With the release of their latest EP, Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler have delivered their new collaborative project, Brent ii. Following the release of 'Brent,' their first piece together, Brent ii reflects the duo's magical chemistry once again. With Brent having major success worldwide, it begged for a second series and that's exactly what they did.
Consisting of five songs altogether, their lead single 'This is how you fall in love' begins the EP with a fresh yet beautiful continuation of Brent. Putting you in an almost hypnotic trance, the mellow love song oozes with feeling. Heavenly mixed harmonies take center stage in their lead single, Jeremy's gentle voice finds Chelsea's unique youthful tone in the subtle love song. The track, a tell-tale of two different perspectives, one being Jeremy's, the other being Chelsea's as she states, ' "What's easy is right'', my mother's advice. '
Not following the constraints of your usual pop song, the second track off of the EP 'Parent Song' begins with shallow voices from 'This is how you fall in love.' The song, which is titled 'Parent Song', is exactly that, being almost like a homage to their parents. The lyrics, 'i'm still that same kid and let's make up for everything I've missed' portray their lives quite clearly of how young musicians' careers have them on the road, missing home and the time missed with their loved ones.
Accompanied by cellos, Emily is passionate yet gentle, engulfing itself in vulnerability and emotion. Packing a powerful chorus from Jeremy, Chelsea takes over the second half with her angelic pipes. Striking a nerve towards an ex-lover called 'Emily,' Jeremy and Chelsea are a magnetic duo and their music showcases just that.
Yet another amazing track, 'Brooklyn Boy', wins you over. The tranquil song with lyrics that deeply convey his emotion point out how precise his songwriting and delicate production truly are.
Closing the EP, 'The Stars' which is solely Chelsea's song, intertwines so well with their similarities in style, the pop indie track is exactly where it's meant to be on the EP. Their music speaks to the soul; if you're looking for a sense of calmness and warmth, Brent ii embodies just that. Listen to their EP here.
