Kwaku Asante is a UK R&B/Soul star from North-West London who is on the rise, and is set to make 2021 a year to remember in his career. Kwaku has on old school voice that gives his music a somewhat nostalgic feel but tends to choose producers who add an electronic layer to his songs, giving them that modern flair. These together, make his music both current and timeless all in one.
Asante has been on the circuit for a couple of years now. He released his debut single “The Way That You Move” back in mid-2018 which has now amassed nearly 2 million streams on Spotify. I happened to stumble across the song several months later and loved everything about it; from his smooth vocals to the groove in the production and everything in between.
Since his introduction, Kwaku has received coverage from the likes of Complex UK and Clash Magazine - just to name a few. He then went on to perform his sold out debut headline show at London’s Omeara in October of last year and release his debut EP “honeycomb” which was executively created with songwriter and producer Dan Holloway.
Now, Kwaku is back with a brand new single called “4 Free”, which he released last week and was added to the New Music Friday UK Playlist on Spotify. This song is an emotive slow burner that hits the listener in the pit of their stomach.
Kwaku is part of the Cloud X collective which is an independent record label, events host and also home to fellow up and coming London talent Santino Le Saint.
Be sure to keep an eye on Mr. Asante in 2021 as he has a lot more music up his sleeve, and follow him here. He also has an upcoming show at The Jazz Café in London on the 18th May which you can buy tickets for here.
